A Cut Above
This is my niece moments before getting her hair cut for Locks of Love, an organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. She's a teenager, who also just ran in her state track meet. I'm really proud of her!

Good for her! And someone's gonna be lookin' good with all that blonde hair!
I'm proud of her too! A couple of young women from my congregation did the same thing!
Yay for LJ's niece!
Her new bob is really adorable, too. Course, when you're a tall, slender, titian-blond with a shy smile, what's not to be adorable?
(I've always wanted to say titian-blond, ever since reading Nancy Drew as a child).
fabulous! a teen in our church just did this too and i'm proud of her.
thanks for your comments my way today. most helpful!
Hooray for your niece! What a great thing for her to do.
Hey, I'm proud of your niece, but selfishly, too, because my 17 year old daughter gave her hair (11 inches) to Locks of Love this past April! It takes years of growing hair, and I think these girls should be commended for their determination.
Jan, Welcome! And congrats to your daughter. You're right. After having very short hair for my entire adult life, I just spent two years growing it out and it's just getting to the point I can do anything with it. Maybe if I keep it going until I'm fifty, I can do this. But they don't want gray hair ...
