Prayers, please

OK, I haven't really wanted to blog about this, because this isn't really an anonymous blog. But here's the truth: I don't like my boss. Actually, if this were an anonymous blog, I would say it more forcefully. I have never worked with a meaner person. But she's Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde, so she knows tons of people and they like her. Which is kind of beyond me, but now I'm stuck with a decision. Do I quit a job after 6 months in a new city where I don't have good contacts, as a single mom with no money in the bank? Or do I keep taking the abuse and hope that something will open up? You don't really need to answer that, but prayers would be appreciated.

What Mimi and Kirstin said. That bites, LJ---may God show you the way SOON!

To paraphrase Fiddler on the Roof: May God bless and keep your boss... far away from you.

It especially sucks when your boss shows her "happy" face to the rest of the world, doesn't it. Unfair.

PJ, ha! Actually, our workspace is part of the problem. No chance to be far away. I don't have an office, but work in an open space between our gathering space, her office and the kitchen: three doors, no way to work in peace, ever. I like my job so much better when she isn't there. But she's almost always there.

WD, thanks.

And as my mother always reminded me, "Nobody ever said life was fair."

lj, prayers for you. Can you look for another job without leaving this one? That's difficult to do, but leaves you less vulnerable.

Thanks, all. My prayer this weekend has been simply to have the plug pulled so that all my negativity could drain out before I go back and face her Monday morning. That seems to be working so far. She takes a vacation next week. I hope to have a constructive conversation with her before she leaves town and see how that goes and respond accordingly.

Oy, sweetie -- so sorry. We'll talk when I'm in town. I'm definitely coming West for a few days during fall break, just made reservations. Talk to you off-blog. Solidarity to you.
